Building Services Operative

The ideal person will be customer-focused, communicating effectively and courteously with residents and colleagues whether face-to-face, via telephone, or in writing. They must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while performing day-to-day responsibilities. The role involves undertaking a full range of duties appropriate to the individual's technical skills level, including multi-disciplined activities within the scope of their training and competence. As part of a small team working on a four-on, two-off rota, which includes weekends and bank holidays, the candidate will be essential in delivering the best experience possible to our residents, customers, and visitors. A positive attitude towards changing environments is essential, along with adaptability to a range of duties and a thorough understanding of the importance of health and safety.

And as a Building Services Operative with Bellrock, you’ll do it by…

  • To understand Health & Safety
  • To regularly check fabric of the buildings and grounds and the assistant building service manager of any defects.
  •  To undertake any such repair work as directed by the assistant building service Manager where safe and practical to do so, and with due regard to Health & Safety rules.
  •  To undertake simple repairs to plant installations and equipment as directed by the assistant building service Manager, where safe and practical to do so and with due regard to Health & Safety rules.
  •  Share responsibilities for the regular health & safety checks, fire alarm checks and water hygiene checks.
  • Undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks and checks, applying basic fixes ensuring facilities are fully functional
  • Provide support to visitors on site

  • Knowledge of Health & safety
  • Ability to work unsupervised, as well as working part of a team
  • Proactive problem solving and organization of work tasks
  • Customer service skills – ensure that all visitors are dealt with courteously.
  • Ability to work alone, using own initiative.
  • Flexibility to work beyond regular working hours as required.
  • Ability to prioritise work accordingly.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels at both the client side, residents, visitors and contractors
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Flexibility to cover other work requests deemed necessary for the smooth running of the contract

Working arrangements

We embrace smarter working practices which offer our employees the opportunity to work their hours flexibly and remotely where their roles and business needs allow. In this role, the successful candidate would be required to work from Addlestone, Surrey, KT15 2AH working a 4 on, 2 off rota between the hours of either 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid break, or 7.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid break.
