Role profile

AI Operations & Programme Manager

Based in either Leicester or London, with hybrid (home/office) working.

The AI Programme & Operations Manager has end-to-end ownership of Bellrock's internal AI programme, spanning everything from the moment a use case is identified through to its delivery, ongoing operation, and long-term lifecycle management. This role exists because internal AI solutions demand a different kind of stewardship to conventional software. When an underlying model is deprecated or updated, it cannot simply be patched. It requires full re-validation from the ground up. As Bellrock's AI portfolio grows, someone needs to own that reality: tracking every live solution, monitoring dependencies, planning re-validation cycles, and ensuring the business understands what ongoing AI ownership actually means. The role also has an equally important forward-facing dimension. That means shaping the use case pipeline, engaging operational stakeholders to surface the right problems, and working alongside the AI Engineering Lead to get solutions built reliably and well.

Key responsibilities?

Use Case Pipeline & Demand Management

  • Own and manage Bellrock's internal AI use case pipeline, maintaining a structured backlog, facilitating prioritisation with the Head of AI, and ensuring each use case is clearly scoped before entering delivery.
  • Engage directly with operational stakeholders across auditors, surveyors, FM teams, and business services to understand their workflows, identify AI opportunity areas, and translate findings into requirements the Engineering Lead can act on.
  • Support the Head of AI in running the AI Use Case Scope & Risk Assessment process, ensuring all use cases are properly evaluated before development begins.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across Bellrock's operational functions, acting as the face of the internal AI team for day-to-day engagement.

Delivery

  • Work collaboratively alongside the internal technology delivery team to manage the delivery of AI use cases, owning the AI-specific scope, acceptance criteria, and test requirements while operating within established delivery governance.
  • Coordinate with the AI Engineering Lead to translate approved use cases into structured delivery plans with clear milestones, dependencies, and success criteria defined upfront.
  • Track delivery progress, manage risks and blockers, and maintain clear visibility for the Head of AI and senior stakeholders throughout each build.
  • Ensure adoption and change management activity is planned from the outset of each use case rather than bolted on at the end.

Portfolio & Asset Management

  • Own and maintain Bellrock's AI Asset Register as a live record of every internal AI solution in production, capturing the models, APIs, tool versions, and integrations each solution depends on.
  • Ensure every solution in the portfolio has documented dependencies, known deprecation timelines, and a clear owner responsible for ongoing health.
  • Produce regular portfolio reporting for the Head of AI and the AI Governance Committee, providing clear visibility of what is live, what is at risk, and what requires action.

Lifecycle Governance & Model Management

  • Proactively monitor model providers, API platforms, and tooling vendors for deprecation notices, version updates, and end-of-life announcements so that Bellrock is never caught off-guard by a change to an underlying dependency.
  • Lead the re-validation process when a model or dependency changes, working with the Engineering Lead to plan and execute full testing cycles from the ground up. A model update is not a software patch and must never be treated as one.
  • Maintain and evolve a re-validation framework that can be applied consistently across the portfolio as it grows.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing optimisation of live solutions and manage the process of safely implementing and validating improvements.

Adoption & Ongoing Operations

  • Drive effective adoption of deployed AI tools by working with operational teams to build confidence, capture feedback, and ensure solutions are genuinely used rather than just launched.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operational stakeholders using live AI tools, ensuring issues are triaged, communicated, and resolved promptly.
  • Support the Head of AI in communicating lifecycle risks, update requirements, and portfolio health to senior stakeholders in clear, business-focused terms.

AI Governance & Risk

  • Attend and actively contribute to Bellrock's AI Governance Committee, providing programme-level visibility of the use case pipeline, live portfolio status, and any emerging risks requiring committee attention.
  • Ensure all AI use cases and live solutions are managed in full compliance with Bellrock's AI Usage Policy and associated risk standards, including data handling requirements, data residency constraints, and the AI Use Case Scope & Risk Assessment process.
  • Maintain the AI Technology Register and Restricted Tooling Register as authoritative records, keeping them current as the portfolio evolves.
  • Work closely with the Head of AI, Head of Legal, DPO, and Head of Data to ensure governance requirements are embedded into delivery from the outset rather than applied retrospectively.
  • Flag and escalate risk concerns promptly, ensuring the AI Governance Committee has the information it needs to make timely and well-informed decisions.

Skills & experience:

  • Proven experience in a programme management, technical delivery, or technology operations role, ideally spanning both delivery and ongoing operational management of technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI and foundation model-based solutions. You must understand why model deprecation and updates require full re-validation and be able to articulate this clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a pipeline or backlog of work, including prioritisation, scope management, and delivery governance.
  • Experience owning a portfolio or register of live technology assets, including dependency tracking and risk management, is highly desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage operational teams, understand their day-to-day challenges, and build trusted relationships across a business.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to run workshops, write clear briefs, and present portfolio status and lifecycle risk to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with a structured, methodical approach and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing grip of the detail.
  • Experience with change management or technology adoption activity is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AI governance concepts, including risk assessment and responsible AI practices, is desirable.
  • You are equally at home in a stakeholder workshop and maintaining an asset register. You bridge the human and the operational without dropping either.
  • You are proactive rather than reactive. You spot risks before they become problems and ensure the business is never caught off-guard by a model deprecation or dependency change.
  • You bring structure and clarity to complex, multi-workstream environments, keeping delivery moving without losing grip of the detail.
  • You communicate with confidence and precision and can translate technical lifecycle risk into clear, business-focused language for senior stakeholders.
  • You are genuinely curious about AI and what it takes to make it work in practice, motivated by the challenge of building something new and doing it properly.

AI fluency & learning mindset: We are looking for people who actively use AI in their day‑to‑day work, demonstrate strong curiosity about new technologies, and take ownership for continuously improving how they think, work, and deliver.
