Key Responsibilities:

Backend Development & Architecture

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize backend services using Django.
• Oversee data models, migrations, and database performance in Google Cloud SQL.
• Ensure robust and maintainable code through best practices, documentation, and testing.

Frontend Development

• Build rich interactive front end functionality using HTMX and TailwindCSS.

Integrations and APIs

• Maintain and optimize third-party services (e.g. Stripe, SendGrid, Intercom, Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics).

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Manage and monitor application deployments on Google App Engine.
• Optimize resource usage and control costs within GCP.

Technical Leadership

• Participate in code reviews.
• Uphold coding standards, build out and automate testing.
• Help shape and implement the product’s technical vision alongside leadership.

AI & Data Integrations

• Collaborate on AI-driven features, including in-house self hosted LLMs (e.g., LLama-based) and predictive ML workflows.
• Maintain data pipelines to ensure accurate reporting and analytics.

Security & Compliance

• Manage audits and collaborate with external teams to maintain compliance (e.g. ISO 27001).
• Establish processes to ensure best practices in security.

Skills & experience:

Technical Expertise

• Must have 5+ years of professional experience in Django. With experience in optimising efficient django performance e.g. through django-debug toolbar.
• Strong understanding of django’s use of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and Django’s ORM usage.
• Experience optimising web performance, including SEO, Accessibility, Loading Speed, e.g. through Lighthouse.
• Comfortable with DevOps in a cloud environment (preferably Google Cloud Platform).

Frontend & Tooling

• Familiarity with HTMX and TailwindCSS or similar front-end frameworks.
• Competence with version control (Github).

Security & Compliance

• Understanding of security best practices for web applications.

Soft Skills

• Proven track record of proactively leading projects and mentoring junior developers.
• Effective communication skills for cross-team collaboration (engineers, designers, product managers).
• Adept at problem-solving with a focus on scalable, maintainable solutions.

Desirable:

• Experience with LLM integrations.
• Familiarity with Google App Engine deployment patterns and cost optimization.
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001.
• Experience integrating and maintaining third-party APIs (e.g., Stripe, SendGrid, Intercom).
